Gold Varsity Boys 5K - Rim Rock HS Classic
Alexander Walters

The Rim Rock HS Classic Gold Boys race was stacked with strong runners. The times from the race were wickedly fast - with three of the finishers having their name upon the top 5 ever at Rim Rock in our database. The winner was Tim Sindt, who would run the fastest time ever at Rim Rock in our database. The Iowa-native did not lose a single race in his 2018 cross country season, and it wasn't against easy competition by any means either. The second place finisher, Dylan Schubert out of Colorado, would go on to finish 35th at Nike Cross Nationals. But right behind Schubert was our own #1-Ranked Kansan, senior Hadley Splechter out of Yates Center High School. JP Rutledge out of Riverton wasn't too far behind Splechter, finishing in fifth in his first HS cross country season as a senior. The Splechter-Rutledge rivalry had gone on all season long starting with the Missouri Southern Stampede, where the pair took 1-2 respectively (with a gap of less than 3 seconds), and finishing the season off at the Cross Country Coaches' National Youth Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, where the two ran for the Brocaw Blazers together and finished 3-4 respectively, with about a two second gap.
