Over the weekend, some of Kansas's best athletes participated in the highly competitive New Balance Nationals Indoor meet in Boston, Massachusetts. 

Salina Central's Katelyn Rupe had arguably the best performance of any Kansan on The TRACK at New Balance, finishing second in the Championship Seeded 5000 meters in a time of 16:32.88. It was a 17 second all-conditions personal best for Rupe, who recently retained her 5A crown this fall, pulling off the three-peat, and then qualified for Nike Cross Nationals. She finished second overall behind Caroline Barton from Carolina Day School. 

Caleb Tofteland (Wichita Trinity Academy) and Max Larson (Shawnee Mission South) both turned in impressive marks in the 1 Mile, even though they were swallowed up by an out-of-this-world field. Tofteland ran under his outdoor 1600 personal best with a 4:17.29 KS Indoor No. 5 all-time mark.
