20 Kansas Athletes to Look Out for this Outdoor Season!

2. Ames Burton, Riley County JR

From a small-town just a tad outside of Manhattan comes Riley County junior Ames Burton. Burton proved herself last year as a competitive opponent at the throwing events. Her mark of 140-6 in the Discus event puts her just on top of our rankings, a mark that was just good enough for second at the KSHSAA class 3A state championships last year. Her top mark in the Shot Put event (40-0.5) puts her in 7th for all-state returning rankings and 1st for 3A.

With two years two go in her high school track & field career, I think a 3A state title may be in the works for her at the least. Maybe a few at that.
