Ranking the Records Countdown - #6

Girls #6
ALLI CASH, Shawnee Mission West, Mile 4:39.98 (2012)
IAAF Score: 1,048 points

Things are getting tight in these rankings. Cash's 4:39.98 mile squeaks past Nikoley's 2:06.70 800m by the narrowest of margins, just 2 points, edging Nickoley 1,048-1,046.

In 2012, Cash became the first and, to date, only Kansas girl to break 4:40 for the mile.  Cash accomplished the feat when she finished third at the adidas Boost Grand Prix Dream mile where only 0.34 seconds separated the top three in one of the best high school fields in the U.S. that year.

Cash showed great range in high school, from 2:13.61 for 800m to 10:32.00 for 3200m, and adding a state title in XC for good measure.

Cash took her considerable talents to the University of Oregon, where great range not only continued, it expanded.  Cash would leave Oregon with PRs of 4:16.56 in the 1,500m, 9:06.91 at 3,000m, 16:00.27 at 5,000m, and 33:02.89 in the 10,000.  Just for good measure, she threw in a 10:25 3000m steeplechase PR.

While at Oregon, Cash picked up right where she left off in high school by qualifying for the NCAA Championships at 1500 as a freshman. Cash would eventually run in nine NCAA Championships across four different distances - 1500m, 3000m, 5,000m and cross country.  Cash earned multiple NCAA All-America honors with her best performance coming with a 5th-place finish at 5,000 in the 2016.

Cash would go on to become an assistant coach at the University of Washington.
