Ranking the Records Countdown - #8

Girls #8
DAHLIA INGRAM, Liberal, Triple Jump 42'11.75" (1995)
IAAF Score: 1,026 points

Ingram's incredible 1995 state record broke the previous wind-legal state record held by someone other than herself (39'6.5" by Sterling's Rene Zimmerman in 1990) by nearly three-and-a-half-feet. In the 25 years since, the nearest wind-legal mark is over two-and-a-half feet behind Ingram's record (Gardner-Edgerton's Jalisa Brice, 40'3.5" in 2011).

But it turns out that despite setting the state record in 1995, Ingram was just warming up for 1996.

Ingram was ranked #1 in the U.S. by Track and Field News in 1996, and also made the U.S. World Junior Championships team and competed in the World Junior Championships held in Sydney, Australia that year.

She would go on to compete for the University of Nebraska where she set bests of 21'1 1/2" in the long jump and added nearly two more feet to her best triple jump, bounding to 44'9". Those marks remain 7th (long jump) and 4th (triple jump) on Nebraska's outdoor all-time list today.
