KALLI ANDERSON, TAYLOR ANTONOWICH, JENNIFER ANDRES, and
SAVANNAH SIMMONS, Newton, 4x100 Relay 46.86 (2017)
IAAF Score: 1,018 points

It is an extraordinary achievement for a single athlete to produce a single mark that is in the top-10 performances across all events in the entire history of the state.

But at the 2017 state meet, Newton got not one, not two, not three, but four athletes to combine to produce such a performance.

Running in the prelims on Day 1, the quartet of sophomore Kalli Anderson, junior Taylor Antonowich, senior Jennifer Andres, and junior Savannah Simmons combined for an epic 4 x100 and became the first and, to date, only Kansas team to ever break 47.

Anderson would add two state titles and two state runner-ups, all at 100 and 200 before going on to compete Barton County Community College. Antonowich would graduate with 100/200/400 PRs of 13.13, 26.15 and 58.66. Andres went to run for Bethel College, where she has posted 100/200 PRs of 12.15 and 24.94. Anchor leg Simmons competes for Missouri Western, where she's run 11.92 and 24.15 for the 100 and 200, respectively.

As great as the parts were, for 46.86 glorious seconds in Cessna Stadium, the whole was greater than the sum of those parts.
