Greeley County was able, after all, to once again take the 1A championship with 44 points -- their fourth in a row and their seventh in the last eight years. It was close. Had two medalists in sixth and sixteenth, while their other two scorers were in the top 32. It was a close race, though -- Centralia and St. Paul were right there, with Centralia taking a one point victory for the runner-up spot, 49-50. Both Centralia and St. Paul beat Greeley County at #1 and #2, and St. Paul beat Centralia at both #1 and #2; however, Greeley County beat them both by at least two score tallies at #3 and #4, and Centralia did the same compared to St. Paul to slide ahead in the standings. Centralia improved upon their third place 2014 finish, while St. Paul's first trip to state (at least in recent memory) resulted in a successful podium finish.
Individually, St. Paul's Jenny O'Bryan, a senior, dominated the 1A race one last time, winning by 24 seconds in a time of 20:06; it was her third straight 1A XC title. Sophomore Robyn Selzer of Wallace County took second in 20:30, improving upon her fifth place finish as a freshman. She was able to outpace junior Sarena Meier of Rock Hills, who was close behind in 3rd at 20:40. It was Meier's third straight 3rd-place finish at the 1A State XC meet. Those were the only sub-21:00 times of the race.
