BLUE VALLEY – There are probably only four teams here who have a chance at qualifying, and the top two are somewhat certain. First, Olathe East, one of the top-ranked 6A teams, should win their regional easily. Then, Olathe North is the likely second place team. After that, it looks like Blue Valley is the best candidate to finish third to qualify, but Blue Valley Northwest should be considered a threat and is capable of taking that spot. Individually, the favorite is Olathe East’s Kayla Davis, who has emerged as a front-runner both for her team and class 6A this year. Sophie Scott of Blue Valley North, however, is likely the second place finisher, and could give Davis a challenge, and Cameron Gueldner of Olathe Northwest should also be contending.
MANHATTAN – Maize and Manhattan tied at the State meet last year, and they are once again of similar ability this year. The team race for this regional should be a close one between those ...
