Even with a ticket to state on the line, these four underclassmen kept their composure and qualified for state while going up against some of the top athletes in their respective classes, with many of those competitors being experienced upperclassmen.

Running 12.01 in the 100m at the KSHSAA 6A Regional at Washburn Rural, Gill posted the fastest mark in that event among all underclassmen girls in Kansas last week and one of the top 100m times among all girls throughout all six classes over regional weekend.
Hartz won the 400m at 48.17 at the KSHSAA 6A Regional hosted by Olathe North, the fastest mark in that event among all boys in Kansas last week regardless of class or grad year. The state leader continues to thrive and get closer to the 48 second threshold.
Spexarth's 144-10 in the javelin at the KSHSAA 4A Regional in Andale led all underclassmen girls in Kansas last week in that event and ranked among the top marks posted by any girl in the state this season, sitting No. 7 across the state and No. 2 in 4A.
Cranston led all underclassmen boys in Kansas last week in the 110mH at 14.25 at the KSHSAA 3A Regional in Cheney, and remains the 3A state leader and one of the top hurdlers in the state regardless of class.
