POLL: Kansas Girls XC Runner of the Week (Sept. 2-7)

We are off and running on the 2024 Cross Country Season!

It was a huge week/weekend of racing and we saw several impressive performances across the Sunflower State. Below are some of the top girls performances from the past week around Kansas. Vote who you think should be crowned the Kansas Girls Runner of the Week for Week Two.

Congratulations to Shawnee Mission East's Charlotte Hardy for winning the Week 1 poll! After finishing 15th in 6A last season, Charlotte Hardy showed she's ready to climb even higher this year with an 18:39.10 personal best. She finished fourth at the Greg Wilson Classic, sandwiched between members of a strong Rogers (AR) squad. She will move on to the finals during State week in which she will compete against the rest of this season's weekly winners to see who had the best performance of the season.

Polling starts on Monday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. and ends on Friday at 12 p.m.

Ryin Miller - Topeka Seaman - Miller gets the rare nod once again this week, but do you blame us? Her 16:32.32 solo effort at the Joe Schrag Invitational is a State record, taking down Cailie Logue's 16:45.75 from 2016. Miller is climbing the national ranks, as well, as she sits US No. 2 now, just 0.12 seconds behind national leader Elizabeth Leachman.

Katelyn Rupe - Salina Central - We promise it won't just be these two girls each week...unless they continue to raise the bar each time they step on the course! Rupe was the winner at the Olathe Twilight in a KS No. 4 all-time 16:52.70, making her and Miller the 4th and 5th girls to break 17:00 in state history.

Madelyn Wallace - Andover - Wallace had a massive breakthrough win at Saturday's Emporia Invitational, running a personal best 17:54.71. She finished 7th at last year's 5A Championship.

Hanna Keltner - Eudora - Keltner was the top finisher at the Wamego Invitational on Saturday, running 18:54.53 for the win in the 4A race. She was the 4A runner-up in 2023 and enjoyed a stellar track season this past spring.
