This week was a quiet one in the KC Metro, but not silent. Several schools were making noise at WyCo Park on Thursday afternoon. A relatively small meet of the seven Wyandotte County XC schools was the occasion that brought them all together.
The girls' race was expected to be fun, and it was Bonner Springs senior Seraphim Peel that pulled away to win by 28 seconds. Sumner's Karyssa Furgarino came through in second, beating out Washington's Paulina Mercado Amado by 15 seconds. In the team standings, Bonner Springs overpowered Sumner Academy 23-34.

The Sumner Sabres weren't to be denied in the boys' race, though. They scored 20 points to Bishop Ward's 53 behind a big win from Uziel Yepez Espinoza. Tyler Holmes of Bishop Ward was 2nd, edging out Sumner's Lucas Rietema.
The Junior Varsity divisions were dominated by the much deeper Sumner Academy teams. Arantzatzu Melquiades Castellanos was the top JV girl, while Ean Pierce was the top finisher in the JV boys division.
