There will come a moment Saturday afternoon during the class 6A state track and field meet when everyone - and I mean everyone - will turn their eyes toward the home straightaway.

The finals of the 100 meter dash.

And they may even stand en masse as a star-studded field roars down the track. These are strong, athletic and fast athletes who will be separated by tenths and hundredths and maybe even thousandths of a second.

Whatever they charge for admission to Cessna Stadium on Saturday, pay it. Sneak in if you have to. Just be in your seat at 1 p.m. Saturday for the girls, and about 1:15 for the boys.

Deron Dudley of Wichita South and Xavier Sellers of Wichita West are the headliners after serving up a delicious preview at last week's regional meet. Dudley won with the sixth best time ever run in Kansas, 10.38, while Sellers was right on his heels at 10.50.
