I told you so.

League championship weekend was every bit as good as was expected as Kansas athletes put a huge dent in the state leaders' listings. There were 43 new No. 1 marks among the six classifications, six new state-leading marks, and one that made the top 10 rankings in the United States.

Welcome to the top 10, Sam Hankins. The Manhattan freshman has burst onto the prep scene this year, and has been ranked No. 1 or No. 2 among all freshman throwers in the nation. Friday at the Centennial League championships, he uncorked his best throw yet -- a 205-11 that puts him at No. 9 in the United States currently.

As impressive as that was, the Centennial League meet may have stolen the show for the weekend with numerous marks that make the state's rankings. So that's the meet that I'll lead with this week…
