6A Boys - Blue Valley senior Colton Donahue won in a dominating performance, running a fast 15:22. Junior Sam Guinn of Blue Valley Northwest ran the 5th fastest time at the 3A/4A/6A meet in the last 9 years running (State Rankings) a 15:41 for second followed by super sophomore Stuart McNutt with a 15:46. On the team side it was Shawnee Mission Northwest dominating the field with a score of 43 to Wichita North's 92. They were led by Seniors Clayton Henderson and Kirk Bado who went 5th and 7th respectively.
6A Girls - Alli Cash certainly did not disappiont. The Shawnee Mission West senior blasted a 14:02 to win by over a minute. Garden City junior Alex Miller narrowly beat Alaina Schroeder of Manhattan, 15:10.2 to 15:10.8 to to claim the runner up spot. For the teams it was Olathe East edging out Garden City 89 to 100. Olathe East was led by senior Brenna McDannold who placed 5th in 15:13.
5A Boys - Shawnee Mission South senior Curtis Cline claimed the individual state champion with a time of 15:58. He was followed by Bishop Carroll senior James Hampton who ran a 16:04 to edge out Nick Boyles of St. Thomas Aquinas who was third in 16:07. Hampton's performance helped lead Bishop Carroll over St. Thomas Aquinas, 45 to 55.
5A Girls - This race certainly did not disappoint. One-Tenth of a second was all that separated Kaelyn Balch from Morgan Wedekind. It was the Bishop Carroll senior Balch that came away with the title, 14:36.4 to 14:36.5. Katherine Dillard rounded up the top 3 in a time of 15:08 helping Bishop Carroll go 1-3. St. Thomas Aquinas edged past them though, 50 to 58. Junior Bailee Cofer led the way to their State Title placing 4th in 15:24.
4A Boys - Winfield junior Josh Hanna came out on top of a tough field, running a 15:46, the second fastest time at this meet in the past 8 years (State Meet Rankings). He was followed by DeSoto senior Angel Vasquez and Mulvane's Ren Bean who ran 15:54 and 16:03 respectively. It was Wamego coming home with the team title, narrowly beating out Mulvane by 5 points, 69 to 74.
4A Girls - Fort Scott senior Katren Reinboldt dominated the field, winning by over 30 seconds in a time of 14:50. Coming in second was Paige White, Baxter Springs senior, in a time of 15:28. Rounding out the top three was Hesston sophomore Mikala Heddin. Hayden, led by 4th place performance from sophomore Mary Kate Franklin, took home the State Title over Winfield, 69 to 92.
3A Boys - Sacred Heart senior Cory Donley came home with the State Title, running a 16:03. Beloit's Alex Conn ran a 16:15 to lock up second by 17 seconds. He was followed by St. Mary's Colgan's Johnny Adamson who ran 16:32. Cordell Goering finished 4th leading Trinity to a State Title in 75 points over Scott Community's 110.
3A Girls - Two sophomores paved the way in the Class 3 girls race. Hiawatha's Jordan Puvogel was the individual champion running 15:30, winning by 5 seconds over fellow sophomore, Emily Sechrist of Hillsboro. Heather Rudder followed in third with a time of 15:44. Douglass only 5 athletes, but that is all they needed to come away with the State Title. They scored 76 points led by freshman Klair Gibson's 4th place performance. Norton Community came in second with a score of 94.
