After running 14:50 to clinch the victory at the Seaman Invitational, Olathe East Senior, Brenna McDannold has been selected as this weeks runner of the week. McDannold topped last weeks runner of the week, Grace Morgan, beating her by nine and a half seconds. Coach Tony Bozarth stated that the plan for the team was to go out fast and hold for as long as possible. "The start was faster than we had ever had before. Brenna controlled the pace of the race the majority of the race. She was smooth and strong". She led the charge for the Hawks, winning convincingly with only 36 points. They are currently fifth in the team rankings based off of time. "Brenna and our seniors have a great ability to lead by toughness and expectations, and yet keep things loose and fun. They are constantly encouraging their teammates and younger runners." Brenna, who finished 10th last fall at the state meet is currently ranked fifth among 6A runners. Coach Bozarth says some of her strengths are "her mental tenacity and toughness.. She has a strong kick, and is a complete runner." McDannold's only lose this season comes to Nashia Baker back at the Bishop Miege Invite in early September. McDannold and the Hawks will be in action this weekend at the Haskell University Invitational where she will run against the Baker twins again. Congratulations to Brenna McDannold on being selected as this weeks Runner of the Week!
