How They Fared - Week 1 - Boys

We take a look at the top three schools of each division as voted on by the coaches.   

 

Boys 6A

#1) Shawnee Mission Northwest - The Cougars showed why they are the top ranked 6A team taking 2nd place a a very competitive Greg Wilson Classic behind the Blue Springs, the top ranked Missouri Team.  They went 4-6, led by senior Clayton Henderson.

#2) Shawnee Mission West - Shawnee Mission West was also at the Greg Wilson Classic where they placed 5th behind Shawnee Mission West (2nd) and DeSoto (4rd).  They were led by senior J Geracie who placed 7th in 17:07

#3) Manhattan - The Indians dominated their home meet winning with a score of 37 over Wamego, the top ranked 4A school.  Their top 4 went 1, 3, 6, and 7 led by junior Chris Melgares.

 

Boys 5A

#1) Bishop Carroll - Bishop Carroll got it done scoring only 29 points at their home meet which featured six teams.  They placed their top 6 within the top 13, including champ Gage Garcia.

#2) St. Thomas Aquinas - The saints struggled a bit at the Greg Wilson Classic placing 6th behind SMNW, DeSoto, and SMW.  They averaged just over 18:00, but had a 1-5 split of just 1:06, led by senior Nick Boyles who placed 12th.

#3) Kapuan Mount Carmel - The Crusaders were at the J.K. Gold Classic that did not have team scores, but they placed 4 in the top 14 led by 3rd place finisher Nolan Hesse.

 

Boys 4A

#1) Wamego - Wamego placed second at the Manhattan Inviatioanl behind the host team.  Senior Jordan Routh led the way with a 4th place finish, but their 5th was only 58 seconds back.

#2) Hugoton - Hugoton dominated the Meade Invitational going 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 for a total score of 20.

#3) DeSoto - The Wildcats placed 4th at the Greg Wilson Classic but beat 2nd ranked 6A team Shawnee Mission West.  Senior Angel Vasquez started his season off hot placing 3rd in a 16:28.

 

Boys 3A

#1) Holcomb - Holcomb placed 6 at the Great Bend Invitational led by Caleb Stewart.

#2) Wellsville - Wellsville placed 3rd out of 10 at the Jerry Howarter Invitational

#3) Scott Community - No Result

 

Boys 2A

#1) Ellinwood - The Eagles took home the team title at the Great Bend Invitational led by individual champ Pedro Montoya who beat the field by 35 seconds.

#2) Statnon Co. - Stanton Co. had a strong showing at the Meade Invitational placing second witha  low score of 40.  Raula Pantoja led they way for them with a second place finish.

#2) Republic Co. - No Result

 

Boys 1A

#1) Pike Valley - No Result

#2) Greeley County - No Result

#3) Axtell - No Result
