This past week was supposed to be our first truly big week of meets of the season, but Mother Nature had other plans. With several meets being cancelled or rescheduled due to the severe storms and heavy rain, the performances from which to choose for this week's Athlete of the Week are much slimmer than we anticipated. Nevertheless, Kansas did see many more performances than our neighbors to the east, Missouri.
Coaches and meet directors: If you see your meet on the calendar from last week, please let us know if we should expect results, or update the meet name to include "cancelled." Send all results or other inquiries to kdeeken1@gmail.com.
Voting for this week's poll will close on Friday April 11th at 12:00pm.

Shout out to Kapaun Mt. Carmel's Jack Guthridge for winning our most recent poll and being crowned Male Athlete of the Week for Week 1! Guthridge posted only one open mark, but it was a stellar one. His 10.23 for the win in the 100 meter dash at the SE Varsity Invitational is a massive personal best for the reigning 5A State runner-up. It was also a US No. 12 all-conditions mark.

Alan Hanna - Maize - Hanna became the first Kansan this spring to clear 7 feet in the high jump when he accomplished the feat at his season debut at the Junction City Invitational. He is one of nine boys in the country over 7 feet so far. The 2024 6A champion is out of the gates strong in 2025.
Koltyn Kaniper - Perry-Lecompton - Kaniper threw a massive personal best in the javelin at Friday's Baldwin Invitational, clearing 187-4. The fifth place finisher at last year's 3A State meet, Kaniper has already boosted his top mark by nearly 11 feet.
Brody Anderson - Burlington - After a busy winter season, Anderson has picked up right where he left off on the indoor oval. He picked up massive victories and personal bests in the 100 and 200 at the Silver Lake HS Winter Invite of 10.77 and 21.79, second and first, respectively, among Kansans last week.
Anthony Testa - Junction City - Testa was the top 2-miler in the state last week, running a personal best of 9:38.13 for the win at the Junction City Invitational. It's six seconds faster than last year's mark as the super-sophomore appears ready to add the 3200 to his list of state qualifying events this year.
Dalamar Read - Mill Valley - Read has picked up where he left off last fall with personal bests in the 800 (2:01.38) and 1600 (4:16.54) at the Coach Beardslee Invitational. The latter mark is currently KS No. 1 and led him to a victory over several of the eastern part of the state's best milers
