POLL: Kansas Boys XC Runner of the Week (Sept. 30-Oct. 5)


The first weekend of October is in the books and many more strong performances were had across the the state and across the Missouri border. We are ready to vote on who was the top performer of this past Week 5!

Below are the top boys performances from the past week around Kansas. The winner will be crowned the Kansas Boys Runner of the Week for Week Five

Congratulations to Blue Valley Southwest's Elijah Chavez for winning our Week 4 poll! Chavez had a major improvement on the Rim Rock course, dropping 47 seconds off his previous fastest time while running 15:41.10 for 5th in the Gold division. He will move to the finals during State week where he will face off with the season's other winners as we determine who had the performance of the year.

This week, polling starts on Monday, Oct. 7 at 12 p.m. and ends on Friday at 12 p.m.

Caleb Muehler - McPherson - Muehler won the Newton Invitational on Saturday in his 4th 16:10s performance of the season - 16:15.06. He has been a model of consistency this season and sits 3rd overall in 4A at the moment. 

Liam Deniau-Young - Salina Central - It was a Salina Central sweep at the Bob Schmoekel Invitational on Saturday, as Deniau-Young followed in his female teammates footsteps and won the Boys division. His 16:17.85 clocking is a new personal best and is 37 seconds faster than last season's time at this meet.

Cody Hammond - Central Heights - Hammond had a monster breakout race at his home invitational, shattering the personal best which earned him second in 2A last season, running a new school record 15:38.51. 

Vance Krudwig - DeSoto - Krudwig came across 2nd at The Rush at Brown Thrush Invitational, running a new personal best 15:39.77, just under his previous best of 15:40.00 from the Olathe Twilight.
