POLL: Kansas Girls XC Runner of the Week (Sept. 30-Oct. 5)


The first weekend of October is in the books and many more strong performances were had across the the state and across the Missouri border. We are ready to vote on who was the top performer of this past Week 5!

Below are the top girls performances from the past week around Kansas. The winner will be crowned the Kansas Girls Runner of the Week for Week Five

Congratulations to Shawnee Mission East's Ella Ash for winning our Week 4 poll! Ash was the top Kansan at the Chile Pepper XC Festival, running the race in a new personal best of 18:52.30 and finishing 31st in the fastest El Caliente heat. She will move to the finals during State week where he will face off with the season's other winners as we determine who had the performance of the year.

This week, polling starts on Monday, Oct. 7th at 12 p.m. and ends on Friday at 12 p.m.

Payton Wurtz - Wabaunsee - Wurtz picked up the win and her first career sub-19 performance on Saturday, running 18:55.33 for gold at the Centralia XC Invite.

Bree Allen - Prairie View - Allen won the Central Heights Invite in a season best 18:50.71. After a slower start to the season, the two-time 3A track champion is now trending closer to her 18:44.30 personal best from last fall after running impressive 5:01.06 and 10:50.17 marks this spring.

Quinn Hays - St. James Academy - Hays was the top finisher at the KC XC Classic in Missouri on Saturday. Her mark was 10 seconds off her personal best for Olathe Twilight. 

Gwen Sattler - Bishop Carroll - The sophomore in her first cross country campaign has now posted two marks under 19:00 this season after running 18:47.92 for first place at The Rush at Brown Thrush Invitational Saturday.
