POLL: Kansas Girls XC Runner of the Week (Sept. 16-21)


Fall is officially here and, much like the leaves, times are really starting to fall all over the state. Week 3 was another huge week with big performances from the Missouri Southern Stampede, Shufelberger Top City Classic, and Hugoton Invitational, among others.

Below are the top girls performances from the past week around Kansas. The winner will be crowned the Kansas Girls Runner of the Week for Week Three.

Congratulations to Topeka Seaman's Ryin Miller for winning the Week 2 poll! Miller's 16:32.32 solo effort at the Joe Schrag Invitational was a State record, taking down Cailie Logue's 16:45.75 from 2016. Miller is climbing the national ranks, as well, as she sat US No. 2 after this performance, just 0.12 seconds behind national leader Elizabeth LeachmanShe will move on to the finals during State week in which she will compete against the rest of this season's weekly winners to see who had the best performance of the season.

This week, polling starts on Monday, Sept. 23 at 12 p.m. and ends on Friday at 12 p.m.

Payton Fink - Washburn Rural - Fink finished 2nd at the Shufelberger Top City Classic on Saturday behind national star Ryin Miller. Her 18:16.18 was her third mark under 18:20 already in the young season.

Cate Wiese - Garden City - Wiese won the Hays High XC Invitational on Thursday in 19:47.64, just 3 seconds off her new personal best from earlier this season. 

Avery Boydston - Ellis - The 2023 2A runner-up picked up her second win of the season with a 19:31.54 mark at the Trego Community XC Meet Thursday. She is already very close to the 19:16 personal best she ran at last year's State meet.  

Janae Fugitt - Cimarron - Fugitt picked up her third win of the early season, running 19:56.10 for the win at the Hugoton Invitational Saturday.
