Meet Results I Meet Coverage


Nickerson High School hosted their home meet on Wednesday with Hutchinson Trinity and Buhler joining them for the triangular.  Trinity outpaced Nickerson, 80-59, with Buhler being a close third with 53 points.  Buhler took the title in the girl's team race with 72 points, while Nickerson and Trinity finished with 54 and 38 points respectively.

State Rankings

For the Hutchinson Trinity boys, Alex Guajardo led a trio of freshmen to a 1-2-3 finish in the 400m.  Trinity also finished 1-2-3 in the 800m, with Sr. Jonah Godina running a time of 2:00.89, which currently leads the state in Class 2A.  Godina also took home gold in the 1600m with a time of 4:41.40, while Trinity placed four in the top five.  Sr. Brendan Kiser won the 3200m and Trinity won all three relays.  On the field side, Sr. Blake Hammeke won both the long jump and high jump, leading Trinity's high jumpers to a 1-2-3 finish.  Sr. Angel Faudoa took home a couple of runner-up finishes in the discus and shot put.

Nickerson took home titles in all three throws and the triple jump: Discus and shot put was won by Jr. Karson Engellend; Jr. Logan Stout won javelin; Triple jump champion was So. Trenton Wood

Buhler boys had victories in the 100m (where they took the top three spots) and 200m by Fr. Benjamin Close and also the 110m Hurdles by Fr. Zach Friesen.  Sr. Spencer Hines was the runner-up in both the 1600m and the long jump.

State Results

The Nickerson girls were led by their field athletes, who racked up wins in the high jump, long jump, discus, javelin, and shot put.  Fr. Delany Childs won the high jump (4'10'') and javelin (77-8). So. Rachel Nisley took the shot put (35-3) and discus (97-11) titles with dominant victories.  Junior Destiny Ponds won the long jump in the field and added a gold in the 100m on the track.

Buhler got victories by So. Camryn Goertz in the 200m (she was also the 100m runner-up), Jr. Maddison Gleason in the 400m, Fr. Hannah Kahn in the 1600m, and Fr. Ella Fredrick in both hurdle events.

Trinity girls had three individual winners: Sr. Maleah Davis (800m), Sr. Teigan Davis (3200m), and Sr. Lauren Penner (Pole Vault).  They also took titles in the 4x400m relay and the 4x800m relay.
