KC Meet of the Week: Blue Valley Northwest Spring Classic


The Blue Valley Northwest Spring Classic is set to take place on Friday, March 31st, and already there is some buzz surrounding the event. This will be one of the first meets of the season where we'll see crossover from both Kansas and Missouri schools, and some of the metro's top high school track teams will be in attendance.

Among the key teams competing at the Spring Classic are Liberty North, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, and Saint Thomas Aquinas. While it's still early in the season, these teams have already shown that they have what it takes to compete at a high level.

Liberty North has exhibited some elite performances at this meet in the past, with some impressive marks from  distance runners Sage Wilde and Ethan Lee. Javon Smith is one to watch in the throws, too.

Olathe North is always competing at a high level, with standout performers everywhere. Ian Quarles in the pole vault, Josh & Jason Parrish in the hurdles, and KaLiyah Jordan in the sprints. Lastly, perhaps we'll see the long-awaited return of Anjali Hocker-Singh in the distance events.

Olathe Northwest has been a popular preseason contender and is expected to show up strong at this meet. Meanwhile, Saint Thomas Aquinas has a well-rounded team with some top athletes in the distance and field events. Watch for Joey Goodenow in the throws & Alex Waldie in the 400 or 800.

Fans of the sport can expect to see some exciting races and impressive performances at the Spring Classic. While it's still early in the season, this meet will be a great opportunity for these teams to showcase their talent and set the tone for the rest of the year. It's sure to be a great day of track and field, and fans won't want to miss it.
