This is, as some students would say, dead week in the Kansas
cross country scene. The week before final exams start. The calm before the
storm. Insert your favorite cliché here.
With league championship meets coming up next week, this weekend's
action is the unofficial end of the regular season. After this week, it's about
bragging rights and big gold trophies.
Coaches play this week differently. Some choose to sit their
top runners in favor of rest for the league-regionals-state trifecta. Others
think a last round of sharpening is what their teams need.
Regardless, it will be a busy Thursday leading into a busy
weekend for the state's runners. Let's take a look:
THURSDAY
At least a dozen meets are scheduled to be held on Thursday,
including Burrton, Chapman, Cheney, Cimarron, Circle Independence, Lincoln,
Mill Valley, Osage City, Sabetha, and Sterling.
