Rockhurst University is loading up on cross-country runners and also
planning for the future when the Division II school in Kansas City
will add indoor and outdoor track and field in the 2023-24 school
year.
Cross Country coaches Kathy Strecker and Cole Bosley -- who will be the indoor and outdoor track head coach -- have loaded up with in-state recruits.
The women's program added Kylie Hunter from Stockton and Alexis Omara from Wentzville Liberty.
Hunter took 62nd place this past fall in the Class 2 State XC Championships, running a personal best 22:34.50. She was an all-stater in the 400-meter dash MSHSAA Class 2 meet last year and was 12th in the 800-meter run. She was also a sectional qualifier last spring in the 100-meter dash
Alexis O'Mara competed at the MSHSAA Class 5 Cross Country Championships this season.
O'Mara is making the move from the St. Louis area to Kansas City. She qualified for the MSHSAA Class 5 State XC Championships this fall, taking 119th place for Wentzville Liberty. In track and field, she was third in the GAC Central Conference Championships last year. She competes in the 400- and 800-meter runs in the outdoor season.
