Week in Review 9/28 - 10/3

Last Week in Review

The most notable performance this weekend was turned in by Shawnee Mission South's boys at KC Metro, winning over the very competitive field of Kansas and Missouri teams.  SMS lost to SMNW by just 5 points a couple weeks ago in Iowa, and they're now ranked ahead of them in the latest GKCCCA poll.  The 6A boys division has a real battle heating up between SMS, SMNW, Lawrence, Manhattan and Washburn Rural as we head into the final weeks of the season.  The top Kansan in the field was South's Andrew Stevens, placing 2nd in 15:49 behind Rim Rock winner Maksim Koroloev of Missouri, and well ahead of defending MO 4A champ Kevin Colon.

On the girls side at KC Metro, Aquinas continued to show they are the top girls team in Kansas. Placing 3rd without Ashley Washburn.  Libby Reazin their #2, was still the top KS runner in the field with a 19:47 5k.  Shawnee Mission South's girls were 3 points behind in 4th.

Several Kansas teams were on hand at the very competitive Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree.  The great competition and amazing weather contributed to some very fast times there this year.  Mackenzie Maki of Kapaun won the 6A girls race in 11:16.90 over the 2 mile course, while Neil Metler of Derby charged through the field to place 2nd in 15:53 behind Kickapoo (MO) standout Danny Thater.
