Meet Information

The Heartland XC Relay Carnival is on of the most unique high school cross country meets in the U.S. It is a 4 x mile, 3 x mile or 2 x 2M relay run on a 1-mile loop course. There is also a parent/coach relay and an alumni relay. There is music at the exchange zone and a cannon start for every race.

But what really makes the Heartland XC Relay Carnival unique is there is no varsity, JV, or C-team divisions. Not only are athletes of all abilities participating in the same relays, 4A, 5A, and 6A schools are limited in the number of varsity runners they can have on a relay while 1A, 2A, and 3A schools are not limited. This allows small schools to compete more evenly against large schools.

The Heartland XC Relay Carnival was specifically designed for this week on the calendar in Kansas high school cross country. It is the final week before the league, regional and state meets and gives athletes a rare opportunity to run and under-distance cross country race to sharpen up in an electric, energizing atmosphere and format. Come join us in 2020!
