Truman High School Boys 4 X1 Mile  18:23                   Lee's Summit West Girls 4 x 1 Mile  21:17

 

Boys Javelin: Macauley Garton of Mill Valley (Shawnee KS) threw over 200 feet 3 times, including the meet winning throw of 212'11" to win over a stellar field by 23 feet.  Louisburg's Garrett Griffin was 2nd with a toss of 189'3",  and Alex Gardinier of Circle was 3rd (188'11").

 

Girls Shot Put: Megan Smith of Olathe South (KS) had 3 throws over 45' including the meet winning toss of 46'5.5" to win by nearly 5 feet.  

 

Boys High Jump: Maverick Scott (Central HS, Park Hills, MO) cleared 6'8" to place first. Jer'rell Moore (Omaha Benson, NE) also cleared 6'8" to place 2nd.

 

Girls Pole Vault: Jaimie House of El Dorado, KS and Emily Brigham of Mill Valley, KS both cleared 11' 11.75".  House cleared it on her first try to win, while Brigham cleared it on her 2nd to place 2nd.  Cassie Wait of Gardner-Edgerton vaulted 11' 7.75" to place 3rd.

 

Girls 3200m: Colleen Quigley (Nerinx Hall, St. Louis MO) took it out hard, leading start to finish to win in 10:44.66.  Courtney Wood (Neosho, MO) was 2nd in 10:58.81, and Molly Milbourn (El Dorado, KS) placed 3rd in 10:59.38 and was the top Kansan.

 

Boys 3200m: Caleb Hoover (College Heights, Joplin MO) had a tough battle with Evan Landes (Mulvane, KS) and David Everett (Westminster, St. Louis MO).  Hoover pulled away on the last lap to win in 9:11.98, with Landes 2nd in 9:14.51, and Everett 3rd in 9:17.09.

 

Girls Javelin: Elizabeth Herrs (Rock Creek, St. George KS) threw 142'11" to win, with Heidi Brown (Southwestern Heights, Kismet KS) 2nd with 139'3" & Dani Plank (Gardner Edgerton, KS) 3rd with 130'10". 

 

Boys 300m Hurdles: Dapo Akinmoladun (Grandview, MO) ran 39.67 in the final heat to win overall. Ezekiel Elliott (John Burroughs,St. Louis MO) was 2nd overall, winning a close 2nd section in 39.89 over Rodgerick Woods 39.97 (Ritenour, St. Louis MO).

 

Girls 300m Hurdles: Freshman Alexa Harmon-Thomas (Free-State HS, Lawrence, KS) ran 44.01 (over a 2 second PR) to win and also making her the 15th fastest Kansan All-Time. Madison Smith (Lee's Summith North, MO) placed 2nd in 44.91, and Lindsay Vollmer (Hamilton, MO) was 3rd in 45.78.

 

Boys Distance Medley Relay:  Carthage (MO) anchored by a strong leg from Evan Adams won in 10:45.87, followed by Lee's Summit North 10:51.84, and Lawrence Free State in 10:52.74.  Liberty (MO) won the 1st section in 10:53.21.

 

Girls Distance Medley Relay: Neosho (MO) dominated the field from the start to win in 12:33.04. Lee's Summit West (MO) placed 2nd in 12:48.51, with Lawrence Free State (KS) just behind in 3rd with a 12:48.57.

 

Girls Triple Jump: Jalisa Brice (Gardner Edgerton, KS) posted a 38'10.25" jump (17th All-Time in Kansas) to win. Maggie Malone (Fillmore Central) was 2nd with 37'9", and Alyssa Kelly (Blue Valley West,  Overland Park KS) was 3rd with 36'10.5".

 

Girls 800m: Samantha Levin (Ladue Horton, MO) took the race out extremely fast, coming through 400m in under 63 seconds.  Maggie Montoya of Rogers, TX started to make it a race though, and took over the lead momentarily just before the 700m mark, before Levin fired up her kick and pulled away to victory in 2:10.07. Montoya ran 2:11.38 for 2nd, with Colleen Riley of Lindbergh (St. Louis, MO) 3rd in 2:13.72, and Allie Cash (Shawnee Misssion West, KS) 4th in 2:15.71).

 

Boys 800m: Daniel Mazar of Rockwood Summit (a transfer from Illinois) ran a strong race to win in 1:54.03 over Tyler Banks (Oak Grove, MO) who placed 3rd overall in 1:56.37.  Jacob Olson of Kearney won the 2nd section in 1:56.12 to place 2nd overall.

 

Boys Triple Jump: Marquise Cushon of Rayton South, MO jumped 48'7.25" to win by over 1 foot.  Reggie Miller of Ruskin (MO) jumped 46'6" for 2nd, and Keith Lawrie (Carthage, MO) also jumped 46'6" to place 3rd.

 

Girls 2000m Steeplechase: Liz Reida from Kickapoo (Springfield, MO) ran away from the field to a new meet record of 7:06.79.  Delaney Fitzpatrick from Lakeland Wisconsin placed 2nd in a respectable 7:34.60,  and Katie Hand from Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita, KS) was 3rd and the top Kansan in 8:08.29.

 

Boys 2000m Steeplechase: Nate Moore from Lockhart, TX dominated the race, but almost lost due to some misleading from race officials.  He won in 6:29.62 over Roy Leighton (Cape Giradeau, MO) who ran 6:30.97, and Daniel Worthington who was 3rd in 6:37.76.

 

Girls High Jump: Sherise Williams of McCluer (MO) outlasted the field to jump 5'6".  Colleen O'Brien from Louisburg, KS led 3 others who cleared 5'4" due to previous attempts.  Alexa Harmon-Thomas of Free State and Brittany Kellenberger (Lee's Summit West) tied for 3rd at 5'4", and Katie Smith of Kearney also cleared 5'4" to place 5th.

 

Boys Pole Vault:  Casey Bowen of Gardner-Edgerton was on FIRE in the Pole Vault. He looked like he could clear 17' and nearly cleared 16' 7.5", but had to settle for a still outstanding vault of 16'4.75" to win the competition by over a foot. He also now ranks #7 All-Time in Kansas in the Pole Vault.

 

Boys Shot Put: Blake Hocking (Lawrence) put on a show for his home crowd with 5 throws that would have won the competition. His top throw of 59' 8.75" was more than 3.5 feet farther than his nearest competitor.  Zach Maloney (Kearney) threw 56' 1" for 2nd (2nd best throw was 55' 11.5"), and Brian Beckmann of Blue Valley West (Overland Park KS) was 3rd with throws of 56' 1" and 54' 8".
