POLL: Kansas Boys 2025 TF Athlete of the Year

Throughout the 2025 Track and Field season, we have been compiling a list of athletes who you have voted the Athlete of the Week. Now that the season is coming to its close this weekend with the KSHSAA State Championships, we are also ready to crown an Athlete of the Year. Check out the nominees and their descriptions from the weeks they won below.

Voting opens Wednesday May 28th and closes on Saturday evening May 31st at 7:00pm.

Week 1 - Jack Guthridge - Kapaun Mt. Carmel

Guthridge posted only one open mark, but it was a stellar one. His 10.23 for the win in the 100 meter dash at the SE Varsity Invitational is a massive personal best for the reigning 5A State runner-up. It was also a US No. 12 all-conditions mark.

Week 2 - Anthony Testa - Junction City

Testa was the top 2-miler in the state two weeks ago, running a personal best of 9:38.13 for the win at the Junction City Invitational. It's six seconds faster than last year's mark as the super-sophomore appears ready to add the 3200 to his list of state qualifying events this year.

Week 3 - Cade Zimmerman - Olathe West

Zimmerman had the state-leading javelin throw of the week with his 196-6 mark at the Mike Wallace Olathe Invitational. This is tops in the entire state for the season and 13th overall in the country.

Week 4 - Max Larson - Shawnee Mission South

Larson dropped the hammer in the 1600 at the Kansas Relays, running a KS No. 1 time of 4:09.98 and finishing second overall. His time is also US No. 41.

Week 5 - Jensen Schrickel - Topeka Hayden

Schrickel had the top 400m time of the week, posting a 48.30 to win the Leitel Legacy Invite. He leads 4A in the event by half a second.

Week 6 - Noah Schowengerdt - Lenexa St. James Academy

Schowengerdt dropped a massive 800 meter personal best at the Saints + Mustangs Invitational on Friday, hitting 1:53.67 for the win. He now leads Kansas as the only one under 1:54 so far.

Week 7 - Bravin Powell-Brown - Gardner Edgerton

Powell-Brown is having a breakthrough senior season for Gardner Edgerton. He ran 14.27 in the 110m hurdles at Friday's Shawnee Mission North Relays, the top time in 6A so far this season.

Week 8 - Michael Bianco - Lenexa St. James Academy

Bianco hit a huge personal best in the 800 at the EKL Championship. His 1:54.34 mark for the win was 3 seconds better than his previous best and adds another interesting wrinkle to the St. James 4x800 team, looking to build off the 7:49.49 they posted at the Shawnee Mission North Relays.
