We Salute Justyn France, Olathe South

Name: Justyn France

School: Olathe South High School

Q: What does your training look like right now given the current situation?

A: Training is the same as it would have been if the season hadn't been canceled, three hard days a week, a long run, and two easy days.

Q: What are you doing to stay busy other than run right now?

A: Currently fixing up the house and watching YouTube and Netflix.

Q: What was your most memorable race/moment?

A: My most memorable race would have been this last fall at our regional meet. I ran my best time winning the individual title and leading my team to the team title.

Q: What was the funniest thing that happened during your running career?

A: One of the meets we were at this last season, everyone said there was no way I could jump a large puddle with lots of mud around it. I did, slipped and fell backwards into the mud.

Q: Who would you consider your biggest competition over your four years?

A: Everyone on my team, because it didn't matter if it was a race or a workout, everyone was there to compete and get better.

Q: What was your greatest accomplishment?

A: In cross it was winning the regional meet. In track it was running 4:23 in the 1600 and coming within four seconds of the school record.

Q: If you could do it all over again what would you change about your running career in high school?

A: I would have run more of the winter offseason during my junior year.

Q: What were the most difficult obstacles you had to overcome?

Q: What advice would you give to younger athletes?

A: Stick with it no matter what.

Q: What are your college plans?

A: I will be attending Emporia State University and running cross country and track starting this fall.
