USAF Athlete Of The Month: Cailie Logue

Cailie Logue of Girard High School has set the bar for the modern era of Kansas prep girls distance running.

The Sunflower State did not switch from 4K to 5K for the standard high school girls championship race distance until 2015, making it one of the last states to do so. On Oct. 1, Logue set the all-time state record for cross country 5K by running 16:45.75 to win the Baldwin Invitational

The Iowa State commit earned a No. 2 national ranking on the Saucony Flo50 by virtue of her third-place finish at Nike Cross Nationals in 2015 and a nearly undefeated track season that saw her set PRs of 4:44 for 1600m and 10:31 for 3200m.

This fall, she is undefeated in cross country. This past weekend, she ran 18:15.39 at Wamego Country Club to capture her fourth consecutive Kansas state cross country title; Logue now owns a total of 10 state titles.

Next up for the young star is the NXN Heartland Regional on Nov. 13 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Nike Cross Nationals on Dec. 3 in Portland, Oregon.
