Interview with Brentwood High School (St. Louis, MO) senior Sophia Rivera after winning two events at the 2015 Kansas Relays at the same time. With Saturday's events all moved to Friday because of the weather forecast, Rivera had to compete in the javelin and shot put, both scheduled for 8:00 am Friday morning. Rivera threw a personal best of 162-9 in the javelin to move to third in the country, and after managing just a best of 40 feet in the shot put prelims, Rivera managed two 47 foot throws in the finals to earn the victory. After all that throwing, Rivera returned to the circle a few hours later and took seventh in the discus with a best toss of 137.
