How They Fared - Week 2 - Boys
We take a look at the top three schools of each division as voted on by the coaches.
Boys 6A
#1) Shawnee Mission Northwest - The Cougars Varsity did not run, but their JV dominated the JV section of the Emporia Invitational scoring 35 points and averaging 18:15. They went 5-9 with times from 17:59-18:21 led by freshman Chandler Bado.
#2) Manhattan - Manhattan was topped by 6th ranked Maize at the Emporia Invitational 53 to 61. They did have a faster average, though, averaging 17:17 to Maize's 17:21. They were led by Chris Melgares and James Leblow who went 1-2.
#3) Wichita North - The Redskins looked great blowing away the competition at the Wild Wind scoring just 22 points. They were led by junior Tristan Villa who won the individual title. They were followed by 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th place finishes. Boys Class 6A Team Rankings
Boys Class 6 Team Rankings Based on Time
Boys 5A
#1) Bishop Carroll - Bishop Carroll had a strong showing at the Hesston Invitational scoring 29 points (races where separated out by grade, and top 5 finishes scored). They best finish was by senior James Hampton who took second in his race with a time of 16:34.
#2) St. Thomas Aquinas - The Saints took third at the Emporia Invitational behind two 6A teams and were led by sophomore Cole Friedman's 13th place finish.
#3) Kapuan Mount Carmel - Mt. Carmel was just 2 points behind top ranked Bishop Carroll at the Hesston Invitational. Junior Nolan Hesse won his race in 17:05.
Boys Class 5 Team Rankings Based on Time
Boys 4A
#1) Wamego - Wamego won their home meet with 71 points on Saturday.
#2) DeSoto - DeSoto was third at the Wamego Invitational, just 23 point back from Wamego. 4th Ranked Mulvane did squeak into second, though. Angel Vasquez did bring home the individual win for DeSoto with a Class 4 State-Leading time of 16:04.
#3) Hugoton - Hugoton was right behind DeSoto with 111 points at Wamego.
Boys Class 4 Team Rankings Based on Time
Boys 3A
#1) Wellsvile - Wellsville took 2nd in the Class 1-3 Race at Wamego behind Christ Prep Academy. They edged out 2nd ranked Holcomb by just 2 points.
#2) Holcomb - Strong showing at Wamego just two points behind top ranked Wellsville.
#3) Scott Community - No Result
Boys Class 3 Team Rankings Based on Time
Boys 2A
#1) Ellinwood - The Eagles looked great at the Hesston Invitational Saturday taking 1st in the Class 1-3 Team Race with 15 points (scoring was based on top finishers in each grades race). They had a second place finish in the freshman race, a win in the sophomore and a 1-2 finish in the junior race.

#1) Pike Valley - Pike Valley looked good at the Wamego Invitational placing 5th led by a first place finish by sophomore Caden Callaway.
