KR: How did you get into Cross Country?
MB: I have always loved running, both my parents are runners, and I did
my first road race when I was six!  I pretty much always knew I was going
out for cross country!

KR: What do you like most about XC?
MB: My teammates are also my best friends!

KR: Do you have any pre-race or pre-meet rituals/traditions as an
individual or team?
MB: Well, usually each season I do things a little differently, but
whatever I do the first meet, I try to do the same thing for every meet
after that!  And as a team we always eat together Friday night and pray
together at the starting line.

KR: How many miles per week do you typically run?
MB: 30-40

KR: What is your favorite type of workout?
MB: Tempo runs!  Two miles on the track or three miles on Shunga trail
are great!

KR: What is your favorite XC course/meet and why?
MB:  I would have to say the Stateland course in Topeka is my current
favorite, but only because I PR’d there last week.  Rim Rock is always
a great experience too not only because of the challenging course, but
also it’s just a great cross country experience, it’s fun to see
people from all over the Midwest.

KR: Would you prefer to race in a muddy mess or on a super fast
course?
MB:  I’m going to have to say a super fast course, because you just
can’t beat the chance for a PR!  But I definitely enjoy a muddy
training run!

KR: What do you like to do outside of Cross Country?
MB: I’m really active in my church and youth group, I am co-president
of our school’s Interact volunteering club this year, and I work at
HyVee!

KR: Who is your favorite college sports team?
MB:  Definitely K-State!

KR: What do you think we could do in Kansas to make the sport better?
MB:  For me, the longer the race, the better, so I really wish Kansas
girls ran the 5K, also high school indoor track wouldn’t hurt.

KR: Finally, if you could have one super hero power, what would you
want?
A:  To run fast, of course!
