Summer Training Blog: Hamilton Southeastern's Gabe Fendel

Week 1 (July 16-July 22)

One of the top returning cross country talents in the nation is Hamilton Southeastern (Indiana) High rising senior Gabe Fendel, who finished 12th at Foot Locker Nationals and 28th at NXN in 2016. At the Shelbyville XC Sectional a year ago, Fendel went a season-best 14:47.00, which led to a runner-up finish at the Indiana High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships. In the spring, Fendel won his first state championship in the 1600m -- finishing in 4:04.76 -- then followed with a seventh-place performance at Brooks PR in the 1-mile. Fendel also had the state's best and nation's 10th-best 3200m time of 8:50.56. Check out every Monday for Fendel's training log to see how one of the best is putting together his plan for a dominant senior season.
