Getting an Early start on the Great Southwest Track and Field Classic 2017

Kansas track and field athletes are encouraged to reserve a spot now for the 2017 Great Southwest Track and Field Classic, which will be held June 1-3 in Albuquerque, NM.

The meet is open to any Kansas athlete who would like to represent the state against the best in the nation. Athletes from 22 states are expected to compete in the meet, which is in its 42nd year. Individuals score points in their event toward their state's team score, and a team champion is crowned.

Kansas organizers say they hope to build the largest Kansas team ever. Aside from representing their  state, Kansas athletes will get to run in a packed stadium with many college recruiters on hand. The meet is held at the University of New Mexico.
