As sad as I am to see Charles leave us as our XC expert the past two years, i am even more excited to get someone who has the inside track (pun intended) to countless amounts of knowledge for the state of Kansas in XC and in the spring will hopefully be helping with track but for now I would like to introduce out new Ks.milesplit.com Cross Country editor for this coming season. Pat Melgares, Pat has some unbelievable ideas for us this season and some new features that I look forward to getting online. Pat will begin with the previews of the upcoming season and those will begin around August 29th. For now this is Pats bio and a little about him which i am sure most of you know already.

Pat Melgares was a five-time NAIA All American in cross country and track and field at Adams State College (Alamosa, Colo.) where he trained under renowned head coach Joe I. Vigil. He was also a two-time Colorado cross country state champion (1983 and 1984) and won state titles in the 1600 and 3200 meters in 1985.
Pat studied journalism at Adams State College and has been a sports and news editor. Since 1998, he has worked at Kansas State University in communications and public relations.

Pat's wife, Susan, is the head coach for cross country at Manhattan High School. The couple has three children: Chris and Michael currently run cross country and track and field at the University of Kansas, and Cara is a senior at Manhattan High School.
