Jenks & Long Dreaming of New York Style Pizza in Kansas

When two adidas Dream milers from a year ago in Stephanie Jenks (Linn-Marr IA) and Hannah Long (Eureka MO) met on Friday at the Kansas Relays for an automatic qualifier for this year's Dream Mile race, a tasty race was guaranteed. Both coming in with mile PR's under 4:45, the Missouri state champ Long led last year's Kansas Relays champion Jenks through the first 3 laps on a torrid pace before the triathlete Jenks was able to power past Jenks in the final 150 meters for a US #1 time of 4:40.78 to qualify for her second straight adidas Dream Mile.

An invitation would have likely been extended to Jenks anyways having finished second in last year's race and being the top returnee with her 4:42 PR. Meanwhile, Long may have missed out on the automatic qualifier in the defeat to Jenks, but her runner-up performance and US #3 1600 PR time of 4:43.67 should put her in good position to receive an invitation for the adidas Dream mile on June 13th at Icahn Stadium by season's end. Long is also one of the top returnees along with Jenks from last year's Dream Mile when she finished 4th with a PR of 4:44.
