Festus Early Bird Meet Preview : Early Season Clash

Last spring Jamie Kempfer started her senior season off with a 10:23 3200 at home. We are looking for another crop of great performances and competition in 2015.

Eureka's Hannah Long begins her final high school season on Saturday before heading off to Stanford this fall. In case you think the weather might be too cool on Saturday, Long ran a 4:45/2:11 on a chilly day at last years meet. The depth of competition in the girls distances races suggest we could be in for another group of really fast times.

The guys distance races also expected to be fast headlined by the Festus senior duo of Michael Karls and Tyler Gilliam.

But it's not just this distance races that make this a great early season meet. In the relays the schools who won Class 4 championships in all 4 boys relays will have teams racing this weekend (McCluer:4x100, 4x200, CBC: 4X400, Hazelwood Central 4x800)

In the Sprints, Maya Cody of Lutheran South who won the Big River series in the 200 meters is entered in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes and the states defending 100 Meter Dash champion Ben Brooks is listed in the guys 100 Meter Dash along with the #2 returner, Raequan Stallings.

In the field events, Nicole Kallenberger, last years runner up in the Pole Vault from Lee's Summit West will be here as well as Cecilya Johnson the Class 3 Girls Discus champ.

Overall 50 teams and 1135 athletes are expected to be on hand for what has quickly become the premier early season meet in the state.

Championship Timing will be posting live results of the all the events on MoMileSplit. If you are on Twitter, @MoMileSplit and @FestusEBInv will be tweeting photos and results
