Willie Morrison followed the "yellow brick road" from Kansas to the bright lights of New York this week end and found that the yellow brick road led him to the the top of the podium at the New Balance National Indoor Track & Field Championships. With a throw of 66'5.25" Willie not only won he dominated the field winning by over 2 feet, runner-up Eric Favors of North Rockland had a second place toss of 64'3". Both Morrison and Favors were ranked one and two coming into the competition and did not disappoint.
Morrison, a Senior at Leavenworth HS, is the defending 2X State Discus Champion (pr 188'3"), and the defending Shot champion with an outdoor pr of 64'6.25. Willie has his eye set on getting to that elusive 70' barrier in the shot and the 200' mark in the discus this spring. Good Luck to you Willie and thank you for representing Kansas with class.
