Rim Rock Farm Classic (High School)

Rim Rock Farm Classic (official site)

The Rim Rock Farm High School Classic has been one of, if not the most, anticipated cross country meets in the State of Kansas.  Throughout the years, the meet at Rim Rock Farm, located about 11 miles north of Lawrence, has grown and drawn many of the state’s and region’s best runners to compete on the historic course.  The challenging course features two covered bridges, hills and other landmarks named after Kansas Jayhawk greats, and seven statues, including Jayhawk Olympians such as Billy Mills and Jim Ryun.

The meet will run the same races that have been run in the past.  There will be two JV races for each gender:  the Crimson and Blue combined and the Gold.  There are three varsity races for each gender.  According to the KU website, the Gold race is intended for most large schools and elite small schools, while the Blue is intended for most small schools and developing large schools.  The Crimson race is intended for everything in between.  Then, this is the first year that there will be a 5k race for girls.  This will be the Platinum division, and the girls will run the same course as the boys.
